The Caribbean Disaster Relief and Recovery Alliance (CDRRA) developed as the byproduct of an overwhelming outpouring of support and a call to action to respond to the widespread destruction caused by Hurricane Irma in the Caribbean. An emergency meeting was held on 8 September in Bowie, MD and was attended by persons representing the Caribbean Diaspora in the DC, Maryland and Virginia (DMV) area. During the meeting, the prevailing sentiment shared by most attendees was that a more cooperative and synergistic approach to disaster relief was required, due to the increasing number of natural disasters affecting more than one island at any given time. Many believed that the Caribbean region would greatly benefit from a more accountable, efficient, integrity driven, non-partisan, and Pan Caribbean approach to disaster relief

We are a non-profit tax-exemption (501(c)(3)) corporation known as the CDRRA, Inc. The leadership and membership of CDRRA span the entire Caribbean and consist of civic leaders, for‑profit and non‑profit business professionals, and military veterans. The long-term goal of CDRRA is to help people recover their lives and return to being productive citizens within the island communities that they call home.
